Bio

Research Interests: poetry and poetics, documentary poetics, imperialism, ekphrasis, post-colonialism, visual culture, photography, critical theory, aesthetics, Filipino and Filipino-American studies, Asian-American studies

Christine Imperial is a PhD Cultural Studies student. Her debut book Mistaken for Empire is forthcoming with Ohio State University Press' literary imprint Mad Creek Books. Her poetry has been published in POETRY, America Book Review, TLDTD, Inverted Syntax, among others. She holds a BFA from Ateneo de Manila University and an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. At CalArts, she received the Emi Kuriyama Thesis Award and the 2020-2021 REEF Residency Fellowship.
