Bio

Neil Agarwal is Mellon Visiting Assistant Professor of Racial Capitalism. He received his Ph.D. in anthropology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, where he was a dissertation writing fellow at the Center for Place, Culture, and Politics. His book project, entitled Yellowing the Logarithm: How Money Solved the Problem of Freedom, considers monetary value and racial difference in early modern America from a historically and geographically materialist perspective.
