Bio

Neil Agarwal is a Mellon Visiting Assistant Professor of Racial Capitalism. He received his Ph.D. in anthropology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, where he was a dissertation writing fellow at the Center for Place, Culture, and Politics. His book project, entitled Yellowing the Logarithm: How Money Solved the Problem of Freedom, considers monetary value and racial difference in early modern America from a historically and geographically materialist perspective.
